Dr. Tanveer Hussain, (Associate Professor, Department of Biological Sciences , Virtual University of Pakistan, Islamabad) has completed D.V.M. in 2006 and M.Phil in Animal Breeding & Genetics in 2008 with distinction and received Ph.D. in Molecular Biology & Biotechnology in 2013. He has been engaged in teaching and research from more than fifteen years as Lecturer and Assistant Professor at University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Lahore until 2014 and onwards at Virtual University of Pakistan. He has been a Fellow Researcher at Cornell University USA and joint FAO/ IAEA Animal Production and Health Laboratory, and Vetmed University, Vienna, Austria. He has participated in 147 different conferences/ workshops and presented his work in USA, Brazil, Austria, Germany, New Zealand, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, China, Turkey, Egypt, Sudan, Morocco, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia and UAE. He has guided 48 M.Phil students as supervisor and 128 M.Phil students as member of supervisory committee. He has 190 research publications in peer reviewed journals along with 5 books/chapters, and 7 proceedings as co-editor. He has about 1000 DNA sequences to GenBank (NCBI), USA. He is member of 13 different professional societies. Currently, he is involved in four different research projects funded by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, PARB, Virtual University of Pakistan and IAEA Austria. He has already completed two research projects funded by AAAS, USA and WWF-Pakistan. He has been Co-Principal Investigator of 10 and team member of 3 different research projects sponsored by national and international funding agencies. His research focus in on molecular genetic diversity, evolution, production, conservation, heat tolerance and immunogenetics of domestic (Cattle, Buffalo, Sheep, Goat, Camel and Yak) and wild animals (Vulture, Urial, Markhor, Ibex, Hog deer) of Pakistan at Molecular Biology & Animal Genomics Lab at Virtual University of Pakistan, Islamabad with active national and international research collaborations.
